With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.- Eleanor Roosevelt
Life can take unexpected turns and, often times, we need support along the way. As a Master of Social Work, mental health professional, I offer individual, couples, children, group, and family therapy.
I specialize in treating families affected by disability and mental health diagnoses. As a parent of a child affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder, I can relate and it is my mission to provide guidance and support to other parents facing similar struggles. If you are a parent facing a recent diagnosis for your child or you are facing the next phase of life with your loved one in planning for adulthood, or anywhere on the continuum, and you are searching for understanding, guidance and inner peace, I would be honored to walk alongside you.
I have extensive experience with counseling children and teens/young adults affected by varying diagnoses, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Anxiety Disorders. I utilize Art therapy and Son-Rise Therapy techniques with a focus on sensory and educational needs in my treatment approach with children. I include parenting skills and nutrition recommendations to enhance what happens in therapy sessions and supports carry over to home, thus deepening the parent/child relationship.
I believe that the whole family is affected when facing the challenges of special needs. Your family’s life may be affected in many ways including marital issues, sibling problems, sensory needs, educational struggles, as well as depression, anxiety, and grief. I practice cognitive behavior therapy and dialectical behavior therapy techniques with a focus on self-care and mindfulness to encourage healing.
I practice a collaborative, holistic therapeutic approach in working with families to thrive throughout their journey.
