Have you ever driven your car somewhere and arrived at your destination only to realize you remember nothing about your journey? Or started eating a bag of chips and then suddenly noticed all you had left in your hands was an empty packet? These are common examples of mindlessness-a state that can be best described as being on ‘autopilot’.
Mindfulness is the opposite of mindlessness. It is the basic human ability to be fully present of where we are and what we’re doing without judgement. Research has shown that practicing mindfulness has positive effects on mental, physical, social, and emotional health and well-being. Mindfulness seems like a simple concept, but in practice it can be challenging to quiet our mind and focus on the here and now.
This 8-week group will guide you through the basics of mindfulness and help you develop your own practice. Each week you will learn and practice formal and informal strategies that you can incorporate into your daily life.
Who Should Attend
- This group is for individuals, 18 years and older, who are interested in practicing mindfulness once a week for a total of 8 weeks.
This group is currently forming and does not have a set date or time. Once enough individuals are interested, a date and time will be set.
