Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills groups emphasize taking action and changing thoughts through using specific coping techniques and psychoeducation.

Skill building is perfect for teens and young adults ready to manage overwhelming feelings/thoughts and create a positive, long-lasting change!

Two current groups are available: high school group, and young adult group

DBT is an effective treatment approach for helping people make positive and long-term behavior changes to create a life worth living. Skills group is similar to taking a class, and we cover four major topics:

  • Develop mindfulness skills to respond effectively, rather than react, and to calm down in a healthy way
  • Learn effective coping skills to manage stressors, crises, and big emotions
  • Create an individualized self-care coping toolbox to reduce distressful feelings and thoughts that often lead to problematic behaviors
  • Learn to create healthy relationships, manage conflicts, and communicate effectively
