Our DBT skills course emphasizes taking action and changing thoughts through using specific coping techniques and psychoeducation.
DBT is an effective treatment approach for helping people make positive and long-term behavior changes to create a life worth living.
This course is appropriate for ages 14 and up.
Skills group is similar to taking a class. We learn and practice skills from four modules:
Mindfulness
How to focus your mind and attention
Distress tolerance
Getting through a time of distress/crisis without doing anything to make the situation worse
Emotion regulation
Decreasing emotional sensitivity/intensity, preventing unwanted emotions from starting, and stopping or reducing unwanted emotions once they start
Interpersonal effectiveness
Initiating/maintaining/repairing relationships, effectively making requests, setting boundaries and increasing/maintaining self-respect

About The Author
Keiko has 12 years of clinical experience working with ages 4 and up. She focuses on empowering clients by challenging patterns and assisting in their creation of self-developed coping strategies. Her preferred approaches incorporate Eriksonian hypnotherapy, mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Cognitive Therapy. Keiko is the CEO of Blossom, and you can often find her hosting workshops, groups, and free events, and at all of our community events!
