Help your child or teen heal and recover
Kids and teens who experience trauma may have different symptoms than adults. When your child has experienced trauma, they're more likely to
- Have flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive memories
- Have strong reactions to reminders of the trauma (sirens, photos, etc)
- Avoid things that remind them of the trauma
- Act out the traumatic event
- Experience changes in thoughts and feelings, such as negativity, social withdrawal, apathy, etc
- Seem on-guard and jittery
- Struggle to regulate feelings such as anger and anxiety
Trauma-Informed CBT (TF-CBT)
Select providers in our office are trained to provide TF-CBT. TF-CBT helps kids, teens, and their families overcome the impact of traumatic events. We work together to develop coping strategies and reduce symptoms like depression, anxiety, or acting out behavior.
