Frequently Asked Questions
This Lab is designed for teens ages 15–18 who are navigating low self-esteem, negative self-talk, or emotional ups and downs. It’s a good fit for teens who are curious about personal growth, open to trying new strategies, and ready to connect in a small, supportive group.
The Lab runs for three consecutive days, with each session lasting 3 hours. Teens also attend a 30-minute pre-Lab session and a 50-minute post-Lab session, either virtually or in person.
No, the Lab itself is not therapy. It’s a skills-based, therapeutic experience focused on reflection, experimentation, and self-discovery. It does not replace ongoing therapy but can complement it. However, the pre- and post-Lab sessions are clinical sessions and may qualify for insurance reimbursement.
The Lab itself is not billable to insurance. However, the individual pre- and post-Lab therapy sessions may be eligible for reimbursement depending on your plan.
Yes! If your teen is already working with a therapist, we’re happy to coordinate care (with your consent) to make sure the Lab complements their existing treatment.
We keep the group intentionally small—typically 4 to 6 participants—to ensure a connected, supportive, and emotionally safe environment.
The Lab is designed and led by Bridget McKeever, MS (she/her), a warm and experienced clinician who specializes in working with teens around self-esteem, anxiety, and identity development. Bridget creates a calm, creative, and supportive space for teens to explore who they are and how they relate to themselves.
Each day blends creative activities, discussion, reflection, and skill-building. Teens will journal, explore self-talk patterns, build self-care tools, and engage in guided exercises like grounding, affirmations, and self-compassion practices. It’s hands-on, supportive, and never about “fixing”—it’s about getting curious and feeling empowered.
We offer a free 30-minute consult to help you determine if this is a good match for your teen’s needs. We’ll talk through their goals, what the Lab entails, and whether it feels like the right step.
No—the Lab is designed as a cumulative, immersive experience. We ask families to commit to all three days so participants can move through the full arc of learning and connection.
By the end of the Lab, your teen will leave with:
- A clearer understanding of their inner dialogue
- Personalized tools for coping with stress and setbacks
- A creative, take-home self-confidence toolkit
- A sense of connection and shared experience
- Optional resources and next steps, including individual therapy if desired
Not at all. While sharing is encouraged, we make it clear that teens only share what feels safe and comfortable. Each activity offers multiple ways to participate—verbally, in writing, or creatively.
Yes. The Lab is designed with a trauma-informed lens. Bridget monitors emotional pacing and uses grounding, breaks, and containment strategies throughout. The group environment prioritizes emotional safety, consent, and regulation.
Outside of booking, paperwork, and the intake consult, parents are not involved in sessions. However, after the post-Lab session, Bridget can (with teen consent) offer a brief summary of what was covered and suggestions for how parents can support integration at home.
Not quite. The Lab is a powerful supplement—great for teens who aren’t ready to commit to weekly sessions or want a jumpstart before beginning therapy. It’s also ideal for teens in therapy who need a focused boost in a specific area like confidence or emotional regulation.
