DBT is an effective treatment approach
for helping people make positive and long-term behavior changes to create a life worth living. DBT is similar to taking a class, and we cover four major topics:
- Develop mindfulness skills to respond effectively, rather than react, and to calm down in a healthy way
- Learn effective coping skills to manage stressors, crises, and big emotions
- Create an individualized self-care coping toolbox to reduce distressful feelings and thoughts that often lead to problematic behaviors
- Learn to create healthy relationships, manage conflicts, and communicate effectively
Develop effective coping skills, create healthy relationships, and make a life worth living! In your individual sessions, we'll follow the DBT model to build skills while working at your own pace. Just like groups, DBT individual sessions are structured like a class to help you capitalize on your strengths and learn new skills simultaneously! We offer DBT for teens, young adults, and adults - and all our staff is DBT trained!
DBT skills groups emphasize taking action and changing thoughts through using specific coping techniques and psychoeducation.
Skill building is perfect for teens and young adults ready to manage overwhelming feelings/thoughts and create a positive, long-lasting change!
Does your teen:
- Get upset easily?
- Struggle to calm down?
- Criticize themselves?
- Feel angry, depressed, or anxious?
- Get into unhealthy relationships with people who don't treat them well?
- Shut down or self-harm?
If you answered YES to any of those questions, your teen will benefit from DBT! Take your teen from crisis to confidence in our DBT program.
Each module is held once a week for four weeks from 6PM to 7:30PM on Tuesdays in our Collegeville office, making this a 16-week commitment.
