How to Turn Galaxy Jars into Your Favorite Coping Tool

Published by Marcy Tocker on

We hear a lot about mindfulness and meditation as ways to achieve “calm” and lessen anxiety. Mindfulness and meditation are great tools that can be achieved by almost anyone if various options are explored. The Galaxy Jar is a fun DIY idea to children and adults! Creating the jar and watching the swirls flow around, the glitter settle, the swirl stop – helps to bring our brains back into the moment. Watching a Galaxy Jar is a form of meditation.

To make your Galaxy Jar you will need:

  • Glass jars (I like Mason jars but you can use any jar with a lid!)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Glitter (or and anything else you’d like to add!)
  • Water
  • Softsoap liquid hand soap
First Step:

Fill the jar ⅔ with water and add glitter, gems – whatever you like!

Second Step:

Fill to the top with Softsoap liquid hand soap. I happened to only have a yellow, “lemon scent,” variety and this worked fine!

Third Step:

Glue on the lid and when it’s dry….

SWIRL and watch the glitter and goodies fly around and settle! This is a great activity to do with kids AND adults!
